Elizabeth was welcomed into our world, Tuesday, January 14th, 1941 as Elizabeth Ann Beal. It was a very cold day, lightly blanketed with snow as Edgar Allen Beal and Helen Isola Beal brought their newborn child to their home in Geneva, NY. Later, employment needs brought them to Churchville, NY where Elizabeth, along with her sisters Marjorie and Joanie were to spend their childhood and teen years. School years would bring Betty to grow as a teenage woman, enjoying cheerleading and playing string bass during her high school years. Just barely out of her teen years she met the love of her life, John Anthony Bunce at a barn dance, from which sixty-three years of love and life would grow in ways that they never expected. Betty would convert to Catholicism in the late 1960’s and her involvement in church life, faith formation, Cursillo, Marriage Encounter, and the Rochester Magnificat would be a testament to the deep faith that was grown in her. Her travels around the United States and to Ireland would form some of her most precious memories.
Predeceased by her parents, Edgar Allen and Helen Beal, her sons Mark Allen Bunce, and Stephen Paul Bunce, her sister, Marjorie and husband Albert Hough, nephew Albert Hough, niece Ginny Hough, and sister-in-law Marie Bunce, Betty is survived by her loving husband of sixty-three years John Anthony Bunce, her sister, Joanie and Ken Dull, brother and sister-in-law Michael and Patricia Bunce, children John Anthony Jr and Elizabeth (Burke) Bunce, Kathleen Marie Bunce, Deborah Ann Bunce, Susan Elaine Bunce, Jennifer Lyn Bunce, Laura Jean Bunce, Teresa Joy (Bunce) and John Paul Dunn, grandchildren John Walter LeBeau Jr, Matthew Robert Bunce, Caitlin Breanna (Bunce) and Brandon Statt, John Anthony Bunce III and Tonilyn (Reitano) Bunce, Mark Bunce Jr, Rebecca (Thrash) and Zach Marafioti, Lily Bunce, Ashley Thrash and Siarah Rodriguez, Erin (Bunce) and Kyler Ribbing, Lucy Thrash, Chloe Thrash, Teagan Bunce, Jax Dunn, and Kaleigh Dunn, six great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and a host of dear, longtime friends from the 19th Ward, Ireland, and many parts of Western New York.
