Born June 1st, 1932 to Anna and Eric Hirtler. Survived by her brothers and sister-in-law’s, Richie(Antonia) Hirtler and Al(Peggy) Hirtler, her five children, Donna(Bill) Brown, Chris(Kit Cordwell) Fischer, Susan McCarthy, Steve(Brenda) Fischer, and Barry(Liz) Fischer, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and her dear dog, Freckles. Predeceased by her husband, Donald Fischer, and grandsons Joseph and Anthony McCarthy.
Bea was a wonder of a woman, born and raised on Long Island, where she met her sweetie, Don. Together, they had five children before moving to a small farm in Rockstream, New York, where so many of our family’s greatest memories are held. A gardener’s daughter, Bea liked having her hands in the dirt, whether in her own gardens or in the vineyards. Known for her sharp tongue and sense of humor, Mema, as her eleven great grandchildren call her, always guaranteed a good laugh. After retiring, Bea and Don moved to Florida, then Ohio to be closer to family, and finally Rochester, where she enjoyed watching her many great grandchildren play and could be found at the local farmer’s market each week to enjoy music, food, and of course, family. Just last month, we celebrated her 92nd birthday with nearly sixty of her family members. Her final month was spent at home, cared for and surrounded by her loved ones, a time we will all remember forever.
Bea’s family will be welcoming visitors at Liz and Barry’s house on Tuesday evening, July 30th, from 6-8pm. Please reach out if you need the address. A memorial will be planned for a later date.
“Goodnight sweetheart, goodnight.”
