Wilson was a WWII veteran; he served 1945-1947 as a corporal with the 2nd Depot Unit of the 9th Army Air Corp, stationed in Germany.
Wilson was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. He served Five Points Community Church in Auburn Hills for 45 years, and First Free Will Baptist Church in Pontiac for 17 years, as board member, adult Sunday School teacher, and choir member. He was a Tool & Die Maker, skilled machinist, and mechanic. He spent 18 years as co-owner of Acorn Tool & Die, Inc. in Rochester. He raised Cheviot sheep for 60 years, and after retiring in 1990, became a premier dahlia grower for the next 31 years. As a long-standing member of the community, he also served as president of the Auburn Hills Historical Society, during which time he helped raise money for the Society's gift of the clock now standing on Squirrel Road near Auburn Road.
Wilson is survived by his wife of 50 years, Virginia E. Garner, his children: Ruth (Rev. Doug) Dafoe, John (Jeri) Garner, Miriam (Rev. Jeff) England, niece Linda (Thomas) Flatt, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Wilson is preceded in death by Normalee, his first wife of 22 years, his parents Rev. Robert and Myrtle Garner, daughter Deborah Ann Garner, sisters Pauline Straley and Kathleen Fitzpatrick.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021, 12 noon at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Drive, Rochester. Interment to follow at Mt. Avon Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 10 am to 12 pm. at the funeral home. Condolences may be shared with the family on this website.
