Ruth Winifred Derby

DERBY, Ruth Winifred, age 101, of Traverse City, passed away Tuesday, April 26. 2016. She was born in Detroit, MI. on Sept. 9, 1914. Ruth graduated from Cooley High School. She was married to Gail Daniel Derby on Jan. 26, 1935. She had a career in office work for S.S. Kresege Company. Ruth was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and she had a passion for crafts and cards. She was preceded in death by her husband Gail, her daughter Diane, her granddaughter Julie, along with her sister Joan Carol. Ruth is survived by her daughters Sandra J. Martin and Judy K. Ward; her grandchildren Wendy, Lori, Kathy, and Jennifer; her great grandchildren Holly, Bonny, Sara, Cassandra, Katie, Mitchell, Haley, Henry, and Collin; and her great-great grandchildren Thomas, Kayle, Charlie, and James. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 620 Romeo Rd, Rochester.
