Ronald T. Zachary, 69, of Rochester Hills, Michigan died November 3, 2012. Ron is survived by wife, Sherry Zachary, son Fletcher Kundtz, and brother Kenny Zachary, as well as countless loving extended family members and friends. Born in Newport News, Virginia, Ron was a small child when his family moved to Madison Heights, Michigan. He completed high school there and attended college on a football scholarship at Ferris State. Ron’s long and successful career as an Information Technology Engineer and Project Manager included employment with K-Mart Corporation, Raytheon Data Systems, Memorex/Telex, and Diebold, Inc. until his retirement in 2010. Ron was a nature lover and photographer and he spent much of his leisure time producing beautiful pictures of birds and wildlife. His passion for astronomy led him to install a high-powered, pier-mounted telescope when he and Sherry built their home Rochester Hills in 1989. As a lover of learning, Ron opened his home to school groups and star-gazers to look into the night sky from this rare residential telescope. A number of his planet, star and galaxy photographs were published in magazines and on websites as he was a member of the Association of Lunar and Planetary Observers and the Astronomical League. Visitation for friends and family will be at 11am, with service immediately following at 1pm on Saturday November 10, 2012 at The Pixley Funeral Home, 3530 Auburn Road, Auburn Hills, MI. Memorial tributes in lieu of flowers can be made to Six Rivers Regional Land Conservancy, 4480 Orion Rd., Rochester, MI 48306.
