Michael Roman Lupin, of Keego Harbor, Michigan, passed away Thursday November 24, 2024 at the age of 71.
Michael was born the son of Eli and Alberta (Cronander) Lupin in Detroit, Michigan on August 16, 1953. Michael lived a year abroad in England with his family while growing up. He graduated from Andover High School in Bloomfield Hills, class of 1971. He started at Oakland University and completed his degree at the California College of Arts. Michael had a career in advertising, including serving as creative director on the Goodyear Tire Account. Coming from a long family line of foodies, Mike was an amazing chef and in his later years, attended culinary school. Michael met Sally Woehler at a friend’s funeral over 25 years ago and the two have been a couple ever since, making their home in Keego Harbor.
Michael had lots of friends, and cherished old relationships going way back. He was always the organizer to bring friends together. Michael enjoyed his cars, his boat, and rock 'n' roll music. He and Sally rode motorcycles together. Michael enjoyed traveling with Sally to northern Michigan and to Florida. Mike has been affectionately described by his nephew as a charismatic "uncle Hagrid" with a huge, booming laugh and Santa Claus like smile. He was an amazing chef and in later years attended culinary school.
Michael is survived by his partner Sally Woehler; siblings Patrice Young and Daniel Lupin; niece Rachel ( Stosh Wandeloski); nephew Brent ( Mariko Helm) Young; great-niece Leah; and great-nephews Clark and Jonah. Michael was predeceased by his parents.
Michael’s family will hold a memorial gathering in his honor at a later date.
