She was born September 3, 1928, the daughter of Nelson and Grace (Forton) Kepsel. Lorraine grew up in Mt. Clemens.
She met and later married the love of her life, George, on September 22, 1947. Together they built their home on Romeo Road. It was there that many special times were spent with family and friends.
Lorraine loved being a homemaker, and raising her children. The smell of homemade cookies, breads and pies often filled the home. Lorraine enjoyed playing the piano, growing flowers, and doing yard work. She loved the Lord and was in church whenever the doors were open. She and George were active in the Prime Timers at church and lead the group for many years.
Lorraine is survived by her son David (Marilyn) VandenBerghe of Dryden; daughter Pearl (Kirk) Watson of Attica; four grandchildren: Nathan (Sarah) VandenBerghe of Dryden; Julie (Jason) Lambert of Imlay City; Lisa (Ed) Holden of Grand Blanc and Nancy (Shawn) Regentin of Holly. Her legacy continues with ten great grandchildren:
Emily, Shane, Grace, and Lucas VandenBerghe; Olivia, Owen, Andrew and Alex Holden; Trista, Tara, and baby Regentin on the way.
Lorraine is also survived by her sister Beverly (Walt) Wright; her brothers Dusty (Elaine) Kepsel and Benson (Jackie) Kepsel; sister in law Winifred (Ivan deceased) Church; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, brother Nelson Jr. and sister
Thelma.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2014, 11 a.m. at the Rochester First Assembly of God, 4435 N. Rochester Road, Rochester. Pastors Richard Crisco and Patti Morris will officiate. Mrs. VandenBerghe will lie in state at the church at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends Tuesday, 2 to 8 pm, at the Pixley Funeral Home. 322 W. University Drive, Rochester.
