Kyle Patrick McCarthy was born to parents Terry and Sally McCarthy on July 30, 1984 in Rochester, Michigan. Kyle was raised in Rochester, Michigan as part of the fifth generation in his family to call Rochester home. He was joined by his sister Courtney (Joseph Leemon) in 1986, creating their family of four. Kyle graduated Rochester Adams High School, and went on to obtain his degree from Oakland University. Kyle married the love of his life, Danielle Duncanson in 2012. Together they welcomed daughter, Penelope Quinn in 2015 and their son Jackson Walter in 2017.
Kyle found an interest in hockey as a child and that continued throughout his life. He played travel hockey locally until his senior year of high school when he joined a Midget Major team in Kentucky. There he made lifelong friends that he kept in close contact with.
Later he joined Oakland University’s Club Hockey team where he was proud to be part of their win of the national title in 2006. He was an avid fan of sports throughout his life and was known for his ability to share sports knowledge at the drop of a hat. He was constantly reading and considered himself an expert on many topics. Some of his favorite topics outsides of sports were about history, especially both World Wars.
After college, Kyle had the good fortune to be selected for Cisco’s prestigious Sales Associate Program. He moved to Raleigh, North Carolina to take part in this program where he mastered his sales and technical skills and made great friendships. He continued with Cisco for years working in technology sales. Kyle had an ability to charm a room with his big smile and easygoing personality. He instantly made people feel at ease, which served him well in his sales career.
After completing his sales training, he worked locally in Raleigh, until taking a sales position in Kentucky. Kyle and Danielle lived in Kentucky for a time. They then moved back home to Rochester to start their family.
Kyle had close relationships with his grandfathers. He especially enjoyed Papa Duke’s tales and Grandpa Buzz’s stories and humor.
Kyle had many things to be proud of in his life; however, he was most proud of his two beautiful children, Penelope and Jackson. Penelope was blessed with his charm, sense of humor and quick wit. Jackson was blessed with his warmth and affection.
His wonderful life will be forever cherished by his children, Penelope and Jackson McCarthy, his parents, Terry and Sally McCarthy, his sister, Courtney (Joseph) Leemon, his godparents Brian McCarthy and Angela Kirby. He will also be remembered and in the hearts of his grandmothers (2), many aunts and uncles (22), cousins (37) and a host of other extended family and friends.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 1-6PM, with a Sharing of Memories at 4PM at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Drive, Rochester, MI 48307.
