Dear father of the late Pat Easterday. He is the survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Gloria; children Ann (Bob) Quarles and David (Patty) Easterday; daughter in law Jeanine Easterday; Step sons Gregory Schroeder and Steve (Laurie) Schroeder; grandchildren James (Cassi) Easterday, Max Quarles, Jake Quarles, Brandon Easterday, and Grant Easterday; Step Grandchildren Leah Schroeder and Rory Schroeder; Great grandchildren Andromeda and James Easterday.
James was born on June 23, 1926, in Detroit, son of the late Lawrence and Helen (Deuel) Easterday. He graduated from Denby High School and joined the U.S. Navy. Following his service in the Navy, James earned his undergraduate degree from Western Michigan University, and then earned his Master’s degree in Metallurgy from Wayne State University. A Metallurgical Engineer, James had worked with the Kolene Corporation for many years, eventually retiring and becoming a consultant for the company. He had numerous Papers on Metallurgy published and was a long time member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (S.A.E.). He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Troy, and he loved to golf, as well as snow ski. An accomplished pianist, James played in a local Jazz band in his younger years.
In honor of his wishes, public services will not be held.
Private family services and inurnment will be held at at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
