Gary was born on November 5, 1945, in Yankton, South Dakota. He graduated from Yankton High School and went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Dakota. On August 20, 1982, he married the love of his life Alice Zapata, beginning a cherished 42 year journey together. Gary had a fulfilling career in marketing and sales with General Motors and Pontiac. He was proud member of BNI and was passionate about sports, traveling, and fishing, creating countless memories with those he loved.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Alice, and his children: Chad Young, Russ Young (Erin), and Alex Janik (Donna). Gary was a proud and loving grandfather to Peter, Kelsie, John, Julia, and Max. He is also survived by his siblings, Nancy Zelenka (Patrick) and Tom Young (Margo). Gary is preceded in death by his son Robert Young.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 18th, from 4pm to 8pm, at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Dr., Rochester, 48307. A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, December 19th, at 11am, with visitation beginning at 10am, at Pixley Funeral Home in Rochester.
