ALWARD, Edward K., age 67, a life-long resident of Rochester, lost his courageous fight against lung cancer July 20, 2015. He was born on September 19, 1947, to the late Edward W. Alward and Jessie B. MacKenzie Alward. He was a 1965 graduate of Rochester High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He began his career with the City of Rochester, where he served as the head of the Building Department and retired in 2009 after almost 25 years of service. He was known for his keen sense of humor. Ed was truly “blessed” by the love of two wives. He is survived by his wife Judy (Gula) Alward, and his late wife Rosanne (Pellerito) Alward. He is also survived by his daughter Christine M. Alward and her husband Jeffery Wills. Doting grandfather of Adam Alward, Carrington Rose and Lindsay LouAnn Wills. Dear brother of Jane Bonczek and Ileen Sapyta. Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. Thursday at PIXLEY FUNERAL HOME, 322 W University Drive in downtown Rochester. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in Ed’s name may be directed to the Salvation Army or the Capuchins; envelopes for both will be available at the funeral home.
