Uncle Denny, 

Although I’ve only visited a few times, you were always in good spirits and cracking jokes. That is what I will remember most about you. I remember visiting you in the hospital with my baby in 2017 and even then you were joking around with us. Thank you for spreading laughter in our lives. Sending love and prayers to the Nash family at this time.

Though we weren’t around often, we enjoyed our time chatting and laughing with Uncle Denny. There were countless moments of laughter, but one thing that stands out for me was when he talked about my mom. Gathered with my father’s side of the family, it was heartwarming to hear someone talk about my mother in a good way.  It wasn’t anything over-the-top spectacular that he said - of course it was something he had to joke about. He told us how he had met her and she asked about whether there was salt in the Michigan Lakes. I don’t remember the entire context - I imagine my mom didn’t know the difference between a freshwater lake with and ocean and Uncle Denny thought it was hilarious. But I guess everything was funny to him - he could make a joke out of anything. What stood out was that he talked about my mom when it was farthest from what anyone else wanted to talk about. Yeah, he was making fun of her, but there was kindness in his heart and that was a big deal to me. I remember thinking that he is such a great father when I would look at pictures of him with Dawn, dressed up for school or social events. I would feel excited to play board games or cards with him and remember thinking how lucky Dawn was that her dad did those things with her. How fun, how silly, and how loving. He was compassionate and kind. He was a perfect match four Aunt Kathy... two loving, compassionate hearts. I love you Uncle Denny. I love you Aunt Kathy and Dawn and Michael.... I pray for healing, peace and comfort in your hearts.

For one of the best brothers in law. I will remember you for being so good to my sister. For the father you were to my niece and nephew. For the friend you were to Bobby. But mostly I will remember you because you were a good man, one that will be greatly missed. 

My memories of Uncle Denny ❤
He was so kind. I can't remember a time where he wasn't happy or being super nice.  If I'm being completely honest, he was one of the very few examples of what a good man should be to his family. I was in awe of that when I was younger, A dad, that plays board games with kids?! 
He took me to see E.T.. I don't know what made him decide to take me, I believe it was my first time seeing a movie at the theatre. Of course I started crying my eyes out when E.T. was going to die. I remember trying to hold it in. I remember just putting my little face into Uncle Denny, and sobbing. I think he handled it well, and even stayed to finish the movie. It's one of his favorite stories to tell. It's one of my fondest memories, and believe me, there are many great memories I have of my Uncle Denny. 
I will miss him dearly, but I have so so many wonderful things that will bring him to my mind from time to time. I love you Uncle Denny ❤

Probably the two greatest golf outings were with Denny. One: foggy morning on the Clarkston golf course with Kathy of course, and although you could not make out the course, we still played. Mostly a lot of golfers yelling "Fore" and everyone ducking to make sure they weren't hit. I used a 7 iron, and for some reason was able to hit a metal light pole after the ball was hit into the fog. Denny couldn't stop laughing. Two: golfing at his favorite spot the Hamptons, he managed to get his ball next to a tree. I believe he used his 9 iron, but mistakenly "followed thru" and wrapped the club around the tree, at which point I couldn't stop laughing. We both had a lot of fun golfing and I will certainly miss him on the course and on the boat. What a great Brother-in-law and a good buddy. If you did not meet Denny, you missed out on one of life's gifts.  

You were the most amazing best friend, husband, partner, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to so many. Our life together was a wild and wonderful ride and I am so grateful that you chose me to be a part of your journey in this life. I will miss our golf outings as well as our camping and fishing trips.  I love you and miss you so much. So long “R.”  until we are together again.

We will miss you terribly Denny. No more funny stories to here about regarding your "hunting" skills. There will be no more Poker nights with those who are hilariously funny, your fishing escapades, etc. But most of all we will miss your automotive capabilities. Say "hello" to Snookums (Jeffrey), Dad, Erica, and all of the loved ones who have gone ahead. Hopefully you'll find some buddies to help you out up there.
