Mrs. Guadalupe “Lupita” Davila was welcomed into Heaven by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 24, 2023 at the age of 72. Lupita was born on April 13, 1951 to Jose and Nievas Tijerina. She lived most of her life in Kleberg County. It was there she met the love of her life, Ernesto Davila. They were married in 1966 and were blessed with two daughters. They lived in Alice and Kingsville where they made lifelong friendships. Lupita worked for 40 years as a nurse doing what she loved - caring for and serving others. Her natural gifts were exemplified when serving her patients with angelic kindness, dignity, and true compassion.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Lupita was one of the most thoughtful and loyal people most ever would come across. She was known for her strength, wonderful sense of humor, and infectious laugh. Her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ showed in everything she did. She had a servant’s heart and a true understanding of putting others before yourself. She always found a place in her heart for family and friends who needed words of comfort or a firm “come to Jesus” talk. Lupita was an outstanding example of a true matriarch.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Lupita. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, baking, and spending time with her family. Making pan de polvo and tamales during the holiday season was a cherished tradition in her household. Despite her many attempts, nobody else could make melt-in-your mouth cookies quite like she did.
Lupita is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Ernesto Davila, as well as her sister Juana Alvarado, and four brothers Joe Tijerina, Raul Tijerina (MaryLou), Ray Tijerina (Yolanda), Noe Tijerina (Dora), and Mario Tijerina. She is survived by her children: daughters and sons-in-law Delia and Eduardo Orta of Refugio; Delinda and Jose Perez of Alice.
Her beloved grandchildren: Gustavo Trejo (Christine); Eric Davila (Denise); April Trejo (Jordan); Guadalupe Ramirez (Meagan); Bonnibelle Caballero (Raul); and Justin Ramirez (Erika).
Her precious great grandchildren: Eric Davila Jr., Kaylynn Trejo, Brittney Davila, Guss Jayden Trejo, Hayden Trejo, Brandyn Davila, Payson Trejo, Taylah Davila, Hannah Ramirez, Taygen Trejo, Madalynn Ramirez, Aliyah Davila, Sofia Davila, and Grayson Ramirez. She is also survived by her great-great grandchild, Jayden Davila.
She is predeceased by her parents, Jose Maria and Nievas Peña Tijerina; as well as her siblings Johnny Tijerina and Estella Gallegos.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. John Catholic Church, 603 N 1st Street, Robstown, TX on Thursday, January 4th at 10:00 a.m. Rosary and visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Any expressions through flowers should be delivered to Memorial Park Funeral Home.
