Margaret Christine Mitchell

Margaret Mitchell, 92, of Roanoke, went peacefully to be with our Lord on Monday, November 18, 2024. Daughter of the late Boyd and Estelle Shaner, Margaret was born in Bath County, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Mitchell, and brother, Boyd Shaner, Jr. She is survived by her son, Timothy Mitchell, and wife, Melanie; grandchildren, Keith Mitchell, and wife, Brook; Jennifer Tuck, and husband, Landon, and great-granddaughter, Julia. She also survived by her brother, Charles Shaner, and wife, Barbara, and several nieces and nephews. Margaret was a graduate of the University of Virginia, a registered nurse, and worked at the Veterans Administration. She was a devoted charter member of St. Philip Lutheran Church. Margaret spent countless hours volunteering at the American Red Cross and organizing blood drives. She enjoyed working in her yard and caring for her flowers. She also enjoyed watching Jennifer and Keith participate in their activities. There will be a private graveside service at Blue Ridge Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. The family is planning a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the American Red Cross or Angels of Assisi.
