Charles David Hollish exchanged his wheelchair for a home in Heaven in the early morning hours of December 1, 2024. He was 85 years old and exactly one month shy of his 86th birthday. He was born in Lakewood Ohio to George and Justine Sikora Hollish, the second of four children..
He is survived by his bride of 60 years, Elizabeth Hollish, two sons, Carl Delson and Douglas (Breeta), grandchildren Catherine (Chris), Cindy (John), Chris (Sara) and two bonus grandchildren, Bryce and Brooke.
He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings George, Bernice and Ronald, daughter-in-law Debbie and great grandson Matthias.
Charles served in the Navy from 1957 to 1961. He earned a Bachelors Degree from the Indiana Institute of Technology with a double major in Math and Physics. He spent his career in Night Vision in Fort Wayne Indiana, Roanoke Virginia, and Tempe Arizona in progressively increasing positions of responsibility.
Charles had an infectious sense of humor. He loved to laugh and could find something funny in every situation. In his last years especially, Charles' sweet disposition attracted people to him. He also attracted canine friends whom he loved dearly, and they him.
Charles was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He invested himself in the lives of all his family and gave great advice.
He enjoyed wine tasting, learning, reading, football, hiking, and watching movies for about half an hour with family before falling asleep! He loved mathematics and could sometimes be found trying to beat the odds at the track or in Las Vegas. He was innately curious about history and culture, and enjoyed traveling to many locations in the US and abroad.
There will be no formal services and he has specified cremation. The family will have a private celebration on Wednesday, December 4th. Donations may be made to SPCA or charity of your choice.
