

Lynna Rue was born March 12, 1942 in Mt. Trumbull, Arizona. She was the 10th of 17 children born to Chester Marion and Genavieve Bundy. She attended a one room school house that also became their church on Sunday. She went to school in Mt. Trumbull until the 8th grade, then moved into St. George and lived with her sisters to finish High School at Dixie High.
Lynna Rue moved to SLC to attend Hollywood Beauty College. There she was trained as a beautician.
Lynna Rue married Gaylen Lee Anderson and together they had four beautiful kids. Later they divorced and Lynna Rue remained single for the next 17 years.
Her love of dancing led her to meet Michael John Shafer and they were married Feb. 10th 1990 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Recently they just celebrated their 35 wedding anniversary. They now had 11 children between the two of them. Lynna Rue and Mike moved to several places in the first few years of marriage. One move took them to Oklahoma City for a couple of years.
Lynna Rue worked for Madsen Associates where she ran a one girl office selling Shaklee products. Then she went on to work for Lake City International where she was often awarded employee of the month or year. She also worked for the Salt Lake Duck Club where she checked membership for people as they entered the duck hunting area. Her and Mike together worked as managers for the Bonne Villa Apartments and Bountiful Manor.
Lynna Rue loved cooking, cleaning, laundry and ironing. She used her talent of sewing to make many beautiful gifts for the kids, grandkids, and friends. She also loved canning and preserving food.
Lynna Rue was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and served in many callings in the Relief Society, Young Women’s, and as a teacher in both the Primary and Gospel Doctrine classes. She was an ordinance worker in the Bountiful Temple for 15 years. Lynna Rue loved being an ordinance worker and loved serving in the church. She also loved being with the family and serving them wherever was needed.
Lynna Rue loved spending time with the kids and especially the grandkids. She especially loved the little babies.
A special thank you goes to Quality Home Health and Hospice and Lynna Rue’s nurse Jen and many others who took great care of her in the last few months of her life.
Lynna Rue is survived by her husband, Michael John Shafer; daughters, Ronda Lynn Beveridge, Gayla Dawn Anderson, Ginger Cooley (Peter), Heather Kay Horspool, Holli Lynn Larsen (Bruce), Heidi Viola Shafer, Hope Martinez (Charles), Hayley Wolff ; son, Gaylen Brett Anderson (Tammy), Michael Paul Shafer (Bobbi), Matthew Wayne Shafer (Mandy); sisters: Bonnie McAlister (Allen) and CloElla Polatis (Dan); brother, Mark E. Bundy (Leslie); sisters-in-law Norma Jean Bundy and Connie Bundy; and brother-in-law, Steve Witwer. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren, Nefeterie Lynn Nunley being the oldest. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that she adored.
Lynna Rue is preceded in death by her parents, Chester Marion and Genavieve Bundy; brothers, Chester Lamar Bundy (June), Owen LaVoyd Bundy (Anna Lou), Kay Argwen Bundy, Eddie Marion Bundy; sisters, Ila May Hughes Blake (Jimmie Hughes and Cecil Blake), Nina Vee Hughes (Alfred), JoEtta Witwer, brother-in-law Willard Andrus and six siblings that died in early childhood: Lavieve, Arlene, Wayne J., Tine C, Ramona and Weeta.
A viewing will be held Friday night March 28th , from 6 to 8 pm at the Woods Cross 9th ward chapel located at 800 West 1500 South, Woods Cross, Utah.
A viewing and funeral will be held Saturday, March 29th , 2025 at the Valley View Funeral Home, located at 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley, Utah 84120. The viewing will be at 12:00 noon and the funeral will start at 1:00 pm. Interment will take place at 2:00 pm in the Valley View Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the Valley View Funeral Home from 2:30 – 4:00 pm.
