MILLIE A. MAIO JUNE 25, 1926 - OCTOBER 22, 2011 Mom passed peacefully, after a sudden illness, with family and friends by her side. Millie was born a Smithville, Texas, farm girl, 3rd youngest of 15 children. She moved to Tacoma, Washington after WWII, where she worked in a candy shop. She met the love of her life, Tony, in 1948 and they married June 3, 1949. They eventually settled in Riverside in 1960, where they raised their family. Millie worked for the Alvord School District for over 15 years, retiring in 1977 as the Norte Vista High School cafeteria manager. The Lord called Tony Home on their 53rd Anniversary, June 3, 2002. She loved God, her country, family and friends, cooking, gardening, game shows, and taking care of her beloved dogs, first Barney, and then Bambi. She loved everyone and everyone loved her! She will be greatly missed! Millie is survived by her sons; Jerry , and Steve, and their spouses, Cybel and Tami. She was blessed with one grandchild; Zachary, and a large extended family that included; Michelle, Mike, Terry, Steven, Makenna, Josselyn, and Bonny, among others. Her only surviving sibling is John Miller of Ventura. She has many other relatives spread across the country. A viewing is set for Thursday, November 3, from 4-8PM at Acheson and Graham Garden of Prayer, Riverside. A funeral Mass will be celebrated in her honor on Friday, November 4, 10AM at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Riverside. Committal Service at Riverside National Cemetery, Friday, November 4, 12:30PM, Staging Area #6. WE LOVE YOU, MOM!
