I was sadden to learn of both carmen & martiza passing. I grew up with the Boeckh family on Hungerford st in Long Beach ca..Leo.Luis.Alfredo.matitiza.
Ana.Carmen.Cathy.Roscio.Lilly.Romie.Sylvia.even rex the dog. Martiza was a very unselfish person.as a teenager her and ana worked at disneyland one summer .but not for themself.they saved their pay so they could help buy the younger sisters items for xmas.This family of 11 ALWAYS had a xtra dinner plate for anyone. Their mother Blanca was good friends with my mother Yolanda. But as often happens we lost contact after they moved.we grew .married and began another life..The last time I saw Martiza was a few years back when she drove down Hungerford st to show one of her daughters where she grew up at.She caught my mother & I outside. She stoped briefly and filled us in on how all the siblings were doing.talked about her 7 kids .she still had that contagious laughter...she gave my mother a kiss on the check. A gentle hug.my mother was now confined to a wheelchair following a stroke.she wished her well & drove off .That was the last we were to see her..My condolences to all her kids..siblings and many friends she left behind...Yvonne from Hungerford St Long Beach..

Maritza, you are courageous, brave, strong,  tough, amazing, special, supported, loved & a fighter. My inspiration of a "Desirable Woman". To my beautiful Maritza, I don’t even know where to start or even know if I can say enough to how much you meant to me.  One of my favorite memories is when you would introduce me as your red headed step daughter, I felt so special. To this day I will not put my purse on the ground because you told me it was bad luck. My husband thought I was crazy for using breast milk for everything with all my kids  because you taught me it was the cure all remedy. There are so many things you taught me and I will forever be grateful. I love you Maritza! 

I remember when I was a kid, one of the times I spent a week of summer vacation over at her house to play with my cousin Alex.  I went with my aunt to drop off Melissa and Alex to one of their summer activities, either school involved or cheer (I don’t remember exactly what event.) I had to hang out with my aunt while waiting for them to get out. I watched her wash the dishes and she was showing me how to save water by swirling the cups, and how she smashed ground meat flat to save room in the freezer, she showed me all types of housewife tips. Then later that day Kassandra (being a baby) was pulling out all of aunt Maritzas pots and pans and  tupperware. She was banging them and making all this noise having a blast. I had told aunt Maritza she was “getting them all dirty”, but she laughed and said Its ok just let her, she’s having fun and as long as she hears the pots banging she knows where she is. I remember thinking at that moment I want to be a grandma like her one day! 

I didn’t have the opportunity to get to know Maritza as well as I would of liked to, mostly at family parties but I always admired how close and how beautifully the relationship she had with her children . She was very social and always in a very happy mood, and very lively at all times. I know she will be missed dearly. Love Tia Martha❤️

Our Aunt Mari is a great dancer (even in the car:), she is caring and nurturing  (I went to her when I got bit by a dog, she put some lemon on it). My Mom said she would sow and make her own stylish clothes by hand, kiss her mirror before she’d take off to school). I found this amazing! 
Her Children are just like their Mah, beautiful (:! 


Remembering all those weekends we spent at your place cooking and eating with the girls after our little escapes back in our single days and then when I got married in Laughlin and you were there to wish me well, my añeja, you will always hold a special place in my heart, we’ll see each other again, save a spot for me at the table👍🏻🙏🏼😘

Wanted to share some kind words from Donna Warner Block, she messaged me earlier to say, "Thank you for letting me know. I so wish I could be there for her service and to be with all of you.  Your mother was one of the kindest, most genuine people I have ever known.  I was so happy to be able to reconnect with her a few years ago. Maritza was strong and I am forever grateful for her love and support.  Don always commented on what a good mother she was and what a good job she had done in raising you girls and I think he would be so proud of you today if he were still with us.  Both the twins have fond memories of Maritza.  I have loved being able to be a part of your lives again. Your family is beautiful and your mother loved being a mother and grandmother."

A Super Woman.. My most significant memory of her was in a car named Betsy, I remember watching her like any little child in absolute Aw, I asked her if she was super woman? She looked over her shoulder with that great laugh of hers and asked me why, and my response to her was that I thought she was because she could drive, put on makeup, drink her coffee, sing, talk and smoke her cigarette all at once.. At that very moment I told myself that I wanted to grow up to be just like her. In her last days we still laughed about our little conversation so many years ago, I am so glad I was able to tell her once again what a super woman she was. I can only hope to be half of that woman.
