Kathleen Phyllis Thompson, 93, passed away peacefully May 25, 2015 in Riverside, CA where she had lived for 73 years, most of those years on Westwood Drive. Kaye was born in Ada, Oklahoma on February 25, l922 to Roy James Rains and Alta (Barringer) Rains. She graduated from Ada High School in l940 and attended East Central University also in Ada. In January of l942 she came to Riverside to visit her brother and his wife and decided to stay. On February 2, l942 she started a career with Alfred M. Lewis, Inc. and retired over 4l years later. Upon retirement she enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, oil and watercolor painting, golf, and traveling with her husband Donald with whom she shared 56 years before his death in 2003. She was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church and a member of Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O).
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Clifford and Bill Rains. Kaye is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and cousins, many who called her “Auntie Kaye”, several special friends and many other friends whose lives she touched.
Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, June 12, 2015, at 2:01 p.m. at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA.
