Jim was born October 19, 1941 to Jesse and Beatrice Adair of Riverside, California. He was the fourth of five children; His brother, Earl Adair, was a well-known realtor in Riverside. On January 27, 1959, at the age of 18, Jim enlisted into the United States Navy. Jim spent one year and two months serving aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard (CVA-31). He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy on January 30, 1965.
During his active duty service, Jim married and had two sons, James "J.R." and Randy. In 1963, Jim began working for D+E Auto Repair of Riverside, and later purchased the company. He served as the owner of D+E Auto Repair for over 30 years until he closed down the shop in 2009. Apart from auto repair, Jim's hobbies also included building and racing dune buggies with his friend Paul. Their last race together occurred in 1976.
On October 26, 1985, Jim married Mary Lou Rose of Riverside, California. For the duration of their 32-year marriage until his passing, Jim and Mary Lou spent their time traveling in their RV, taking day trips to the Pechanga Casino, and being grandparents to their two grandchildren. His other passions included woodworking, barbecuing with his family, and playing music on his many instruments. Jim also had a very strong love for bands and musicians such as ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Eric Clapton, and others.
Jim Adair is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; his sister, Darlene; his two sons, James and Randy; his daughter-in-law, Kay; his grandchildren, Tyler and Alyssa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, August 15 at 10:15am at Riverside National Cemetery.
