Enrique Lozano

Enrique Lozano was born in Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico, one of 8 children born to Maclovio and Maria Jesus Lozano, on June 5th, 1940. He was a man of purpose and strong work ethic, and always put his family first.

Enrique’s father passed away at an early age and, being the eldest male, took it upon himself to take responsibility as the head of household at a young age. He looked after his 6 sisters and younger brother while being the foundation for his mother, Maria Jesus. Enrique had to quit school and fully commit to providing for the family and did various things to keep the house afloat. Among some of the endeavors were founding a Tortilla factory.

There were limited opportunities in Mexico, and he wanted to make a better life for himself and his family, so he joined his brother who had already migrated to the US in prior moves and made the journey to the US with $5 in his pocket and not a word of English in his vocabulary. After quickly acclimating to US life, Enrique continued helping his mother by sending money back to Mexico on a regular basis.

Enrique eventually crossed paths with Guadalupe Ramirez, at a disco club, and somehow, magically let his dancing do the talking. A romance bloomed and would be the catalyst that would lead to children, Rick, Alex, Faby, and Freddy.

Enrique loved his family immensely, and although he was a man of few words, his actions spoke the loudest. His children could always count on him to provide the means to better their life. What Enrique could not offer in words, he could offer in action, and his children are forever grateful for his love. As with most immigrant stories, the yearning for a better life leads to so many bountiful roads, and his children can whole-heartedly say that if it were not for their father, they would not lead the wonderful lives they lead today. As Enrique was the rock for his mother in the first half of his life, he continued to be the rock for his loving wife, Guadalupe. Guadalupe will forever miss her partner, but she takes solace in knowing he is in a better place, in the heavens above.
