David James Townsend

David was born to his father, the late Charles William Townsend, Specialist in the U.S Army and his mother, Elizabeth Ann Johnston. David was born in San Bernardino, CA on February 5, 1971. David graduated from Fontana High School and later attended UTI Phoenix, AZ, where he completed and received training in Automotive Repair. This trade helped David secure work in the transportation field.

David enjoyed working at Toy’s R Us for 15 years as Transportation Manager and at the 99 Cents Only Stores as Director of Transportation. David’s career ended at H.D Supplies.

David was blessed with a large extended family. He married his love of his life, Sofia Tavera on June 20, 2020, in Newport, CA. David accepted her daughter, as his own and he enjoyed raising Johie with patience, discipline, and humility. David was blessed with 7 children. David was proud of Jessica, Kimberly (Kimmy) and Melyssa. He was blessed to have seen them grow into strong, beautiful, independent, women. David was a father figure to Shawn, Jose (Trey), and Jovanni. They would seek him for advice and life guidance. David was firm but was caring and honest with his advice. The time he spent with them was too short, but it was long enough to teach them that “Give a man a fish, and you feed him a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.” David loved all his children, and they shared the passion of camping, fishing, family trips, all holidays, and sharing life together.

David is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Ann Johnston, stepfather, Robert Johnston, three children, Melyssa Townsend, Jessica Townsend, Kimberly (Kimmy) Townsend, and granddaughter. Also, by his extended family, Shawn J Gonzalez, Jose T Gonzalez III, Jovanni D Gonzalez, Johie G Noetzel, and three grandchildren.

David was kind and had a gentle spirit. He spoke softly and always made time for his family. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones.
