One of my life changing moments came from my aunt Clara. I was in my late teens when  she said I should get a job and directed me to the Indian Center. That started me out in the working world, becoming an independent woman, not to rely or depend on others to give me anything, if I wanted something I can get it myself by working for it. Through several years of failures and triumphs I was lead back to my faith. God first! My Auntie was happy for my sobriety, we didn’t talk a lot about it but it was acknowledged as she knew I had grown up to be a productive citizen. Her spirit will live in me and she will always remain in my heart. 

One of the most precious memories of my mother is when I was a young girl. I was sick often and this particular day my fever was either really high or my mother wanted to take me out of the moment. She decided to take me outside in my pajamas and turn the water hose on and continued to spray me with water. It worked in so many ways. I was smiling and enjoying the sun glistening off the water spray. My mind was no longer on my sickness but how awesome and beautiful my mom was. I can still see her figure outlined by the sun. My mother was truly unique, and loving.
