Riverside, CA—Christopher White, 63, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at UCI Medical Center in Orange, CA. He fought with courage and determination against complications from diabetes and a 15-year battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Pamela (Evangelista) White, son David Moorhead and his wife, Erica Cabag; son Brian Moorhead and his wife, Corina Moorhead, mother Ikuko Carlen, and sister Sheenah Jones, stepmom Patricia White and her son Husani. Chris is preceded in death by his father, Dr. Milton White.
Christopher White was born on July 8, 1956, at Mitchel Field Air Force Base in Garden City, New York. He grew up in a military family, living in different places around the world and finally settling in Daly City, CA. Chris joined the U. S. Air Force in May of 1975 shortly after graduating from Westmoor High School in Daly City.
Chris served as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist and a crew chief aboard the KC-10 refueling aircraft, traveling around the world. He served in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm from August of 1990 to November of 1995. His military service brought him to March Air Force Base in Riverside, CA, which was his last duty station. After 21 years of service to his country, Chris retired in June of 1996.
Chris worked at Minco Computers in Moreno Valley immediately after his retirement from military service and then accepted a job at Disneyland Resort’s California Adventure Park as a Facilities Manager where he worked for the next 19 years. While working for Disney, Chris graduated from California Baptist University in Riverside, CA in August of 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering. He continued his education at the University of Redlands where he earned a Masters of Science degree in August of 2002.
Christopher had an enthusiasm for life and learning, fueling his drive to learn and start collections of his favorite items. He had a love of history; his interest in photography is evident in a large collection of cameras; his love of trains (his favorite was the Union Pacific) supported by a vast collection of model trains of various size. Chris was an avid fan of Major League Baseball, especially the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and the NFL, his favorite teams being the Packers and the Raiders. He spent over 25 years as a volunteer with Little League, starting as an umpire while still on active duty at March Air Force Base and then served as the District Administrator of California’s District 24 Little League for the past 15 years. He shared his love and care for Little League with his wife Pam, who is also a longtime volunteer.
The funeral arrangements are being handled by Acheson and Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary, located at 7844 Magnolia Avenue in Riverside, CA 92504. The viewing will take place on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm. The service will be held at the mortuary at 8:30am on Thursday, November 7, 2019 with burial immediately following at the Riverside National Cemetery.
Chris will be remembered not just for his many collections and interests, but for his enduring love and care for his wife Pam, their family, and for his friends all over the world. His was a life well lived...determined by the sheer number of lives that Chris touched.
