OBITUARY
Elizabeth Hairston Robinson
14 October, 1939 – 31 March, 2017
Elizabeth Robinson affectionately known as "Liz" was born on October 14, 1939 in Martinsville Virginia to the late William and Julia Hairston. She transitioned from this life on March 31, 2017.
Liz relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with her family. She was educated by the Philadelphia Public School System, graduating in 1952 From Simon Gratz High School. Liz would later marry the late Joseph Robinson II and from that union came three beautiful children Joseph, Jennifer and Justina. Many years later, she would be blessed with two wonderful sons, James and Jerold Douglas whom she adored.
Liz was a Phenomenal Woman and an extraordinary person who knew how to take a house and make it a home. Because she embodies the principals of sowing and reaping, she knew how to take a little and make it more than enough. This consistently assured that she and her family would always be provided for. As a domestic engineer, life-sustaining deposits were consistently made into her children and grandchildren. She taught cooking skills, gave sound advice and even taught them simple home repairs. She instilled in her family the importance of working hard and perseverance. While she was a very private person, it never stopped her from opening her door to countless family and friends that needed a place to call home. Liz never met a stranger and never minded sharing what she had to help the next person. She enjoyed crocheting and spent countless hours building miniature dollhouses. However, her true passion was helping her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who love her.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Justina Williams, grandson, Keith Qualls, sister Juanita Harris and brothers Leroy, Harry, David and William Hairston.
Loving memories will forever remain with her four children Joseph (Renee) Robinson, James Douglas, Jerold (Kimberly) Douglas and Jennifer (Marvin) Robinson; six granddaughters Jimita (Troy) Hairston, Jimeka and Jineka Williams, Atiya and Raven Douglas and Nicole Robinson; nine grandsons Jamal Bingham; Richard and Raymond Robinson, Quadir Qualls, Troy Douglas, Tracy Douglas, Mason Douglas, James Douglas, III and Malik Douglas; three siblings Freda(Clement) Ferguson, Marilyn Harris and Yvonne(Johnny) Beck; sisters-in-law Mary Hairston and Barbara Hairston, and a host of great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and friends.
