Ruth was a member of First Baptist Church/Jackson where she was a member of the Hope/Joy Sunday school class. She was a native of Ackerman, Mississippi, the daughter of John W. and Zella Ray Henderson.
Ruth was employed outside of the home for several years after marriage but after she and Bob started their family she devoted her time to them, enjoying their interests and activities through the years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She was active in her church and enjoyed friends of her luncheon and bridge clubs. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, and most of all, she enjoyed helping others with needs that they might have. She and Bob enjoyed traveling, They especially enjoyed being members of the Telephone Pioneer Family Camping Club and traveling all states and Canada in their motorhome.
She is survived by her daughters, Angela (Les) Culpepper of Birmingham, AL, and Sharon (Carroll) Blackledge of Madison, MS, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, Bob, parents, and sisters, Audra Clark and Syble Prewitt.
Funeral services will be handled by Parkway Funeral Home. A visitation will be held in their facility on Sunday, December 29th, 2024 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm with a funeral service to follow. Graveside services will follow at Natchez Trace Cemetery.
