Marion Elizabeth "Sue" Mason

Marion “Sue” was born in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana on December 21, 1926 to Thomas Tilford, who owned a blacksmith shop, and Maida Sterling East, a homemaker. Sue attended Hazlehurst High and Jackson Commercial College. She married Clyde Roland Mason on Saturday evening, September 14, 1946. She met her beloved husband when he returned from active duty in WWII with the Army Air Corp. He preceded her in death at the age of 97. They raised their 4 children in Broadmoor Baptist Church. The newly married couple built their first home in the GI subdivision, AKA Broadmoor in Jackson, MS and enjoyed many wonderful years with kids playing in the streets, growing up in a great American town. She was the ultimate homemaker- three sit-down meals a day. Sue loved pictures, scrapbooks (especially WWII memorabilia). She was very patriotic from an early age. Anyone who spent any time with our mother got an earful of praises bestowed on her 4 flawless kids.

Sue and Clyde have 4 children. Her oldest son, Clyde Roland Mason, Jr. and his wife Debra live in Flora, MS. His children include Ashely, Colby, and Tyler Mason; Mike Mason and his wife Dianne reside in Valley View, TX with their grown children, Heather, Honey, and Jonathan (Cheris); Laurie and her husband Larry Smith live in Madison, MS with their son Mason Smith; and Clay, her youngest son lives in Brandon, MS. Kandy Mason, Clay’s beloved wife preceded him in death in 2021. Words can’t express the immeasurable loss our entire family has experienced with Kandy’s departure to Heaven.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Parkway Funeral Home, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS 39157 with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery.
