Margaret (Madel) Morgan Stringer, Ridgeland, Mississippi, died November 12, 2014. A celebration of her life will be 2:00pm Saturday November 15, 2014 at St Columb’s Episcopal Church, 550 Sunnybrook Rd., Ridgeland, MS. Visitation will be at 1:00pm till 2:00pm at the church. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park, Jackson, MS.
Mrs. Stringer was born in Rosedale, MS, on April 26, 1918. She was the daughter of the late Charles Clark and Vera Joest Jacobs and great granddaughter of Mississippi Governor and Civil War General Charles Clark.
Mrs. Stringer was a 1939 graduate of Mississippi University for Women. She was the director for the archives and library division of the Mississippi Department of Archives and History. Prior to this time, she worked as librarian for St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, and later as special projects coordinator for the Mississippi Library Commission. She loved Mississippi history and continued doing research for people after her retirement. She was a member of Daughters of the King at St. Columb’s Episcopal Church, The Colonial Dames of America in the State of Mississippi, The Order of the First Families of Mississippi, the Mississippi Library Association, and the Mississippi Historical Society.
She is survived by her son-in-law and his mother, Mark and Daisy Griffith; and her grandchildren, Ryan Miller (Leslie) of Flora, MS, Kendle Foster (Jonathan, Sr.) of Pearl, MS, and Echoe Linden Frias (David) of Jackson, MS. She also leaves behind eight great grandchildren, Jeremy Miller, Zachary Miller, Jacob Miller, Ava Grace Miller, Preston Priest, Morgan Boyte, Rivers Priest, and Amani Frias. Her nieces and nephews are Jerry Williams, Ridgeland, MS, Diane Wilson Jacobs of Jackson, MS, Catherine Helen Jacobs of Ocean Springs, MS, Rosemary Crocker of Biloxi, MS, Frank Dalton Alley of Jackson, MS, and Patricia Alley Denton of Clarksdale, MS. She was predeceased by husband, Adelia Morgan; husband, Murray Stringer; daughter, Suzan Morgan Griffith; sisters, Lillian Anna Jacobs Williams and Vera Joest Jacobs Speakes; brothers, Frederick Clark “Toby” Jacobs, Charles Clark Jacobs Jr.; and nephew, Charles Clark Jacobs, II.
