A private family Graveside service will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, MS.
Evelyn was born on September 15, 1922 in Jackson to Eva Ruth Keene and Joseph Ernest
Broadaway. She was educated in the Jackson Public Schools, graduating from Central
High School in 1940. She earned bachelor and master degrees from Mississippi College.
Evelyn retired after 30 years service with the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
She was the first Certified Medical Staff Services Coordinator in Mississippi, a position
she held at the University Hospital the last 12 years of her working career. Retirement
activities included volunteer work, book club memberships, travel, stitching and bridge.
She was a member of Northminster Baptist Church.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Cecil William Jones, and brother, Dr. Rufus
Keene Broadaway. She is survived by a son Joseph Mark Jones of Sacramento CA and a
daughter Eva Catherine McPeters and her husband Wesley of Cordova, TN and their two
daughters, Carrie Kramer (Jackson) of Truth or Consequences, NM and Mary Evelyn
McPeters of Knoxville, TN.
With gratitude the family declines flowers and memorials and suggests instead that you
