Born in Hazlehurst, Copiah County, Mississippi, on September 23, 1924. Ellen was a resident of Jackson for the majority of her life and in the past 10 years, St. Catherine’s Village in Madison. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles Hooker Miller and Susie Belle Wade Miller. Both Miller and Wade families were pioneer settler families of Copiah County.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Roscoe Bonslagel; second husband, John W. Morgan; four sisters, Elizabeth Miller Brown, Jane Miller Hight, Susan Miller Dominick and Sarah Frances Miller Huff; one brother, Charles Hooker Miller, Jr. She was fortunate to have had many devoted nieces and nephews, Sarah Brown Wheless, Barbara Brown Savage, Jack Dominick, Jr., John Newton Huff, Charles Hooker Miller III, Kim Miller Purvis (Dave), Phillip Blake Miller, John Clayton Miller and Glen Wade Miller. Ellen appreciated Kim Miller Purvis and Jack Dominick, Jr. for their assistance during her many years at St. Catherine’s.
After the death of Rock Bonslagel in 1978, she began working in real estate and later married John W. Morgan, CPA in Jackson with whom she traveled extensively.
Mrs. Morgan enjoyed golf, tennis and her memberships in various luncheon clubs with her many friends. She was also an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Jackson, very involved in her church life and a dedicated volunteer at the Mississippi Baptist Hospital and the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson.
During the last several years Ellen cherished meeting new friends and being with lifelong friends at St. Catherine’s Village in Madison.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 4 starting at 1:30 pm at Parkway Funeral Home, with a service to begin at 2:00 pm. Interment will take place at the family plot at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Pastor Bobby Hood will officiate services.
The family will be forever grateful for the kind assistance of Shelia “Swisher” Williams and all of the staff of the second floor of Tuscany.
