Carol Ann Statham Grigsby passed away on April 8, 2024 at the age of 78 at Community Place Nursing Home to join her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in her heavenly home. She was born November 30, 1945, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to her parents Harry Anderson Statham, Jr. and Sadie Marie Purvis Statham, both now deceased. In addition, Carol is predeceased by her only sibling, her brother, Terry Lee Statham and her grandparents Talmadge and Mattie Purvis, of Flora, MS and Harry and Josephine Statham of Jackson, MS. Carol moved with her parents to Jackson, MS following her father’s discharge from the Marine Corps after WWII.
Surviving to cherish her memory is her husband Robert D. (Bob) Grigsby. In addition, she is survived by her nephew, Joshua Todd Statham and niece, Leslie Caron Statham Easterling, 2 great nieces, Ainsley Statham and Raeleigh Statham and a great nephew, Sawyer Easterling, her sister-in-law, Judy Statham and her cousins, Larry Edwards, Wesley Edwards, Steven Whitlow, and their families.
Carol attended Jackson Public Schools, graduating from Central High School in 1963. She retired on December 31, 2014, as Vice President of Human Resources from Telapex, Inc. after 44 years of employment, where she worked in many positions during her tenure.
Carol married her best friend, and the love of her life, Robert D. “Bob” Grigsby, on October 15, 1977. They enjoyed traveling together and took many trips during their married life.
She enjoyed gardening, reading, and traveling. Carol and Bob particularly enjoyed going to the beach at Orange Beach, Alabama and the mountains at Gatlinburg, Tennessee where they spent their honeymoon. Some of their favorite trips were an Alaskan cruise, seeing Niagra Falls, Bar Harbor, Maine, San Francisco, New York City and Hawaii.
Carol attended St. Marks United Methodist Church on Grants Ferry Road for several years prior to her death, and she loved her Ways and Means Sunday school class.
Visitation will be held at Parkway Funeral Home on Highland Colony Parkway on Friday, April 12, 2024 from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm and on Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The service will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday following the visitation. Burial will follow at Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
