Barbara was born in Drew, MS on March 5, 1933 to Cordia Myres Roberts and Eugene S. Roberts, Sr. She grew up on a sharecropping farm with her family in Zama, MS. She played basketball for Zama High School and graduated in 1951. Upon her graduation she moved to Jackson.
Barbara met Harold Miley, the love of her life and they married in Jackson in 1951. They celebrated 68 years of marriage in December of 2019. Together they had 3 sons, Bill, Jeff, and Ben.
Barbara was a dedicated commercial insurance underwriter for Employers Mutual Casualty Insurance Company for over 44 years and was a member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Harold and her sons and their wives, Bill (Susan), Jeff (Pam) and Ben (Leslie). She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved well.
Barbara is predeceased by her parents, 4 sisters and a brother, and a grandson.
Funeral services for Barbara Roberts Miley will be held at Parkway Funeral Home and Memorial Cemetery, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway on June 4th with visitation at 1:00 pm, and a graveside service at 2:00 pm.
She will be remembered for the great love she had for her family. Her family was the source of her earthly joy. She loved deeply and was fiercely loyal. She will be missed by many but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Barbara’s name to the Susan G. Komen Central MS Office, or the church or charity of your choice.
