Obituary of William Arthur Washburn III
WASHBURN, William Arthur III, fondly known by friends and family as “Art” passed away on Sunday, February 12th, 2017 in Glen Allen, VA. Art was born on November 10th, 1966 and attended Wake Forest University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy. He received a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University and further earned the designation of Certified Investment Analyst from the Investment Management Consultants Association. Art placed family and community above all else serving foremost as a loving father and husband but also in various leadership capacities throughout the community including having been a Board Member for the Virginia Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a Board Member and Chair of the American Heart Association (Central VA), serving on the National Leadership Council for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, being a Board Member of the Richmond Strikers Soccer Club and a Board Member of Henrico Business Leaders. He was a volunteer soccer coach for the YMCA and the Richmond Strikers Soccer Club providing guidance and leadership to youth throughout the greater Richmond area. Art was on the Glen Allen Youth Athletic Association Basketball Operations Committee. Art was the Co-Principal and Founder of Alpha Omega Wealth Management providing financial and investment services to individuals and businesses throughout the U.S. Art Washburn is survived by his high school sweetheart, love of his life and wife of 26 years, Sondra Stefursky Washburn, his three valiant and adoring sons, Alexander Joseph Washburn, Zachary Tyler Washburn and Christopher Gabriel Washburn, his mother Dolores Washburn, his in-laws Joseph Stefursky and Melanie Stefursky, and his Aunt Geraldine Staton, his Aunt Carolyn Wheatley, and by so many friends, fraternity brothers, young adults and others whose life he directly impacted that it would impossible to list them all. The loss to his family and our community can only be outweighed by the gain of the loving, charitable, honorable and benevolent soul into the Kingdom of our God. Visitation with family, funeral services and memorials are as follows: Family will receive friends from 5 to 8pm Thursday February 16, and Friday, February, 17, 2017 at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. , Richmond, Va. 23229. Art’s funeral service will be held 1pm Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Shady Grove United Methodist Church, 4825 Pouncey Tract Rd., Glen Allen, Va. 23059.
