Warren was born September 13, 1939 in Hershey, Pa. to the late Arthur and Naomi Mathias. He was a graduate of Palmyra High School, Class of 1957, and received a B.S. in Horticulture from Penn State in 1961, where he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. Warren served his country in the Army during World War II in the European Theatre of Operations where he met his wife, Annik. He then served during the Vietnam War as Support Command Chemical Officer with explosive ordnance disposal with the First Infantry Division, receiving two Bronze Stars for his service.
As a civilian, Warren served as president of the Palmyra Rotary Club, was a member of Rotary International, and a Paul Harris Fellow. He received the Distinguished Alumni Award, the highest honor bestowed by Penn State upon an outstanding alumna or alumnus. His business life in Palmyra revolved around Plant-Pot-Pourri, which he owned and operated with his wife Annik.
Warren was an avid fly fisherman and made a number of trips to the Western States. Pheasant hunting was also a favorite pastime. He enjoyed family vacation time in Nag’s Head, NC over the last 40 years.
Surviving Warren are his wife of 56 years, Annik; sons, Eric (Suzanne), and Patrick (Mattie); and daughter, Tera Mathias. He was a loving grandpa to eight grandchildren.
