Obituary of Wallace Alvey McNeal
MCNEAL, Wallace Alvey, 78, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family, on August 9, 2022. Born on October 6, 1943 in Warsaw, Va., he was the second of four children born to the late Virgil Hugh and Gladys Virginia McNeal. He was preceded in death by his brother Roger McNeal in 1986. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Dolores McNeal; his two adoring daughters, Natalie Archibeque (Scott) and Tara Savedge (Kent); and four precious grandchildren who he cherished, Garrett, Grayson, Riley and Jackson. He also leaves behind two loving sisters, Lois Meeteer and Joan Foster (Charles); and a very special nephew, Roger McNeal. He also leaves behind countless other family members and friends who loved him. Wallace grew up in Warsaw, Va. and moved with his family to Philadelphia, Pa. in 1958 where he met many of his lifelong friends. He was later drafted to the United States Army where he proudly served his country. After returning from the military, Wallace married the love of his life, Dolores, in 1969, and moved to Richmond to start a family. Wallace worked hard his whole life and retired from SunTrust Bank after 25 years of service. He enjoyed retirement with his grandchildren who fondly called him "Pop Pop." Wallace, who was affectionately known as "Wally," will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His sense of humor left an imprint on everyone who was lucky enough to know him and his laughter was contagious. He loved country music, family vacations to Myrtle Beach, going to the horse races in Charlestown, W.Va. and attending all of the grandchildren's sporting events, which he rarely missed. Above all else, he loved his family deeply and they loved him beyond measure. He will be missed immensely but his memory will live on in our hearts forever. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 from 4 to 5 p.m., with a Celebration of Life immediately following at the Woody Funeral Home Parham, 1771 North Parham Road. Interment will be private.
