Susie Mae Loan

Susie Mae Loan ascended to Heaven peacefully in her sleep on Nov. 9, 2024 at the age of 92 in the comfort of her own home. Susie is survived by her little sister, Elsie J. Thurston, and has 6 siblings previously departed. She also has 19 great grandchildren, 13 grandchildren, and 6 children: Mark R. Loan (Karen), Michael T. Miller (Angela), Martha M. Lawson, Richard Jr. Miller, Susie M. Barlow (Walter), and Doris M. McCormick. Susie was passionate about her large family, music, dancing, doll collecting, gardening and animals. She was an expert sewist and excelled at everything she designed from curtains to apparel, with a special devotion to clothing her dolls. The well-dressed collection was extensive and included dolls of every size and character, exquisitely maintained from their hair to their matching socks and shoes. She loved flowers and was particularly fond of the roses in her garden in her later years. Susie provided for herself as a professional housekeeper most of her life and gained many friends through the years. She didn’t believe in cutting corners and was devoted to her clientele, and they to her. There will be a private family remembrance to celebrate her life at a later date.
