Ronald Wayne Ragland, Sr., 83, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2019 at home, surrounded by his family. He was born March 11, 1936 in Lynchburg, VA to parents Mary Lucille Fegans and Walter Earl Ragland who predeceased him. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Esther S. Ragland; children, Rhonda L. Bradshaw (Ronald), Ronald Wayne Ragland, Jr., and Lisa R. Thomas; grandchildren, Lauren M. Hershey (Kyle), Wade L. Bradshaw and his fiancé Alexis Barrios, Keri L. Ragland and her husband Byron Spangler, Kristopher Scott Ragland; great-grandson, Mason Thomas Hershey; and sisters, Dorothy King, Shirley Ragland, and Alice Louis. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Frank E. Thomas II (Bo); his sister, Katie Weber; and his half-brother, Eugene Seay.
Ronnie served in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1957. He owned Village Exxon from 1978 to 1992 and then founded Ridgefield Automotive Service, Inc. in 1995 which the family still owns and operates. He was well renowned as an honest and kind person and an excellent auto mechanic. People drove their cars from miles around to have him service their vehicles. He loved going to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, TN, fishing and working in the yard. He was a loving devoted husband and father and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
