Robert Alan Holsten Sr.

Robert Alan Holsten Sr. passed away on May 12th 2014. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Mary Ellen "Deedle" Rowland Holsten, his three sons; Robert Jr and wife Christy, Brent and wife Aloma, Austin and his wife Jennifer. He is also survived by his sister Dorothy Thompson and her husband Ken. He was blessed with eight grandchildren; Trey, Janie, Henry, Jackson, Addison, Declan, Avery, and Elle. He was preceded in death by his parents Al and Ann Holsten and his sister Ruth Holsten Nitz. He displayed courage and grace during his thirteen year battle with cancer. This courage and grace was carried over into his love of his family and the game of golf, usually in that order. He only knew one place to work, E. A. Holsten Inc., and he truly loved it. He enjoyed working with and learning from his father and having the opportunity to pass what he knew onto his three sons. He was a member and served as president of Hermitage Country Club, West Richmond Businessmen's Association, and Richmond Sales and Marketing Executives. He was also a member of The Commonwealth Club, Kiwanis Club, and The Colon Club. He attended Mars Hill College and graduated from The University of Richmond in 1964. Visitation will be Wednesday May 14th from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 at Woody's Funeral Home: 1771 North Parham Road, Richmond, Va 23229. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 on Thursday May 15th at Trinity Methodist Church: 903 Forest Avenue, Henrico, Va 23229 with a reception scheduled to follow.
