PERRIN, Preston D., 65 years of age, resident of Glen Allen, Va., passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017. He was born the son of Joseph L. Perrin, Jr. and Mabel Ford Perrin. Preston is survived by his wife of more than 30 years, Ginny; his sisters Denise Wilkerson (Wayne), and Emily Perrin; and his father-in-law, Hartwell Griffin.
Preston valued hard work and kindness above all else. He never stopped smiling throughout his 5-year courageous, hard-fought battle with cancer and maintained his sense of humor, positive attitude, and busy lifestyle. Preston was active in the retail industry for his entire career and was proud of his time with Miller & Rhoads and with his current employer, the Retail Merchants Association, where he developed lifelong friendships. He was the youngest Store Manager in the history of Miller & Rhoads.
Preston enjoyed participating in community activities and was a member of the Board of Directors for the Goochland County Historical Society. He attended the Goochland County Sheriff’s Citizen’s Academy, FBI Citizen’s Academy, Henrico County Division of Fire Citizen’s Fire Academy, and Henrico County Citizen’s Police Academy programs. Preston attended J.R. Tucker High School in Henrico and Virginia Tech.
A celebration of Preston’s life will begin with a graveside service at Westhampton Memorial Park, 10000 Patterson Ave, Richmond, Va. 23238, on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a reception at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd, Richmond, Va. 23229. Preston would think it was “fantastic” if you wore a touch of John Deere green or yellow in his honor. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, Va. 23060.
