Obituary of Penelope "Penny" Williams
Williams, Penelope Reihmann, 67, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at the Hospice of Virginia center in Retreat Hospital. She was born in Philadelphia June 16, 1945, to Rose Reihmann Williams and Charles Williams, Sr., both deceased. She is survived by her brother, Charles “Cricket” Williams, Jr., and his wife, Robin, of Crozier, and her beloved niece, Katherine Bolling Williams. Reared in Richmond, she graduated from Douglas Freeman High School in 1963 and attended Averett College. She graduated from business school and worked for Reynolds Metals for 33 years at both the New York and Richmond offices. While at Reynolds, she worked many years as the administrative assistant to the head of the security division. In retirement Penny enjoyed her friends and family. Throughout her life, she remained close to her Reihmann cousins, despite the distance that separated her from them. She doted on her niece, Katie Bo, with whom she shared a love of music, especially mutual favorites Willie Nelson and Frank Sinatra. Her love of family was approached only by her love for a succession of miniature dachshunds. She leaves behind her loyal companion Johanna. Penny had the rare gift of being a good listener and always put people at ease, even in her illness. She supported and encouraged those around her and touched her family and friends with her unfailing thoughtfulness and consideration. She was a member of Hebron (Presbyterian) Church in Manakin-Sabot, where a funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, December 5. In lieu of flowers, contributions to celebrate her life may be made to Hebron Church, 1040 Shallow Well Road, Manakin-Sabot, VA 23103.
