Peggy B. Barr

Barr, Peggy B. of Richmond passed away January 20, 2022. Peggy was born in Raleigh, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Julius Blackman and Susan Grady, brother James Blackman and husband Pat Barr. She is survived by her children, Beverly H. Rollings husband John, William “Bucky” Hurt and his wife Tonya of Richmond, Va. Her daughter, Lisa Brumfield and her husband Rick of Indian Rocks, FL. Stepchildren, Herman “Pat” Barr and his wife Karen, Kimberly Buzzell and her husband Stephan, Michael l Barr and his wife Dianne.

Her sister Nancy B. Smith of Linden, NC, brother, Charles J. Blackman and wife Betty of Virginia Beach, Va. and Robert H. Blackman and wife Sharon of Roanoke, Va. Five Grandchildren, eight step grand children, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Peggy graduated from John Marshall High School in 1955.

Peggy was a retiree of Reynolds Metals Company and a member of River Road Methodist Church in Richmond, Va., where they chaired the Leisure club and participated in various church activities. Peggy loved being with her family especially at the beach in Southern Shores, NC where she and Pat lived for many years. Peggy loved to play bridge, read, and working in her vegetable and flower gardens. She was a devoted volunteer for Tuckahoe Little League and Hot Line for Women.

The family would also like to thank the caring staff at Beth Shalom and Heartland Hospice.

There will be a private gravesite service at a later date.
