Lynette Ruth Phillips Dalrymple

Lynette Ruth Phillips Dalrymple was born on January 21, 1944 in Arouca, Trinidad to John E. Phillips and Pearl L. Phillips. She was the eldest daughter and the second oldest of twelve brothers and sisters. At a very young age, she helped her parents in raising, mentoring, guiding and nurturing her younger siblings. Also at a young age, she dedicated her life to the LORD and held His hand throughout her whole life. She had a love for singing and would sing and perform with a few of her sisters, always with the desire to bring honor and glory to the LORD. Lynette had a penchant for assisting others without expectation of reciprocity. She took this natural gift and carved out a successful career as a registered nurse. Blessed with an opportunity to work in New York City, she embarked on a new adventure in her journey of life. Adjusting to drastic changes, such as climate and culture, Lynette continued to make progress in her career. She developed new friendships and eventually met the love of her life, Osborne Dalrymple. They were married on March 29, 1969. Together they raised four beautiful children. She was a trailblazer and opened doors for many. From making it possible for her parents and siblings to come to the United States from Trinidad to introducing and connecting people to opportunities that made room for advancement, Lynette helped those in need without hesitation. She continued to thrive in her career as a nurse and even graduated from law school earning her JD. She provided an excellent example of hard work, love, generosity, commitment and grace. She fully walked in the role of and was honored to be a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a friend and most importantly a daughter of the Most High. Lynette balanced work and responsibility with humor and living life abundantly. She was known to have a song that perfectly captured a moment. Known to be quick witted, she sprinkled joyful humor in conversations and warmed many with her brilliant smile. She loved to travel and ventured to places many only dream of going to. She cruised the Hawaiian Islands, walked the roads Jesus Christ walked in Jerusalem, stood in the Door of No Return on Gorée Island, Senegal. Many family vacations and memories were created and enjoyed. As a faithful disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ, Lynette was active in spreading His message wherever she went. She ministered to homebound patients, prayed with co-workers, handed out tracts and talked to strangers about the love of God. She was very active and involved in her local church. She wrote plays, created programs for holidays, sang and fellowshipped with the brethren. Lynette is survived by her husband, of 50 years, Osborne; her children Delano, Darren, Daria, Derrick, son-in-law Aaron Sr. and daughter-in-law Seloie; her grandchildren Deanni, Aaron Jr., Devyn, Chloe and Carter; her eleven brothers and sisters: Evans, Annette, Judith, Audrey, Elton, Esther, Marleen, Peter, Patricia, Wendy and Paula; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and cousins.
