CURRIE, JUDITH HUFNER, age 76, went to be with her Lord and Saviour in Heaven on Friday, December 22, 2023.
Born in Richmond, VA December 15, 1947 to William Benjamin Hufner and Margaret Rush Hufner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and half sisters, and husband and is survived by her daughter, brother, William Hufner, Jr., and a half sister, Louise.
Judy graduated from Varina High School in 1966. Attended Richmond Professional Institute and VA. Commonwealth University, worked for the State of VA. Dept. of Taxation. She married John Young Currie, III on July 25, 1970 and moved to Nome, AK., where they remained for 25 years, visiting family back in Richmond during the summers or traveling the United States, Canada and Europe. They had their daughter Cynthia Bronwyn Currie on June 30, 1980. They delighted in being a family of three. Later on, their 2 labs, Buddy and Shadow joined them on their travels. While in Nome, Judy worked part – time as a substitute teacher, then at the Nome Pharmacy and later at her friends Arctic Trading Post Gift Shop. In 1995 they moved to Tappahannock, VA. to be closer to their families. Judy enjoyed reading, making crafts, baking, decorating, traveling and making the Holidays special, especially Christmas.
The family will receive friends 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm, Tuesday, January 2 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave.
A graveside service will be held 3 pm Wednesday, January 3 in Washington Memorial Park, 6217 Memorial Drive. Everyone will gather at the graveside for her service.
