Joyce Amos Berryhill

BERRYHILL, Joyce Amos, 84, of Richmond, Va., passed away on October 5, 2011. She was the daughter of the late Marion W. and Mary Crews Amos, of Rockville, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard D. Berryhill, of Richmond, Va.; and her brother, Malcolm W. Amos, of Rockville, Va. She is survived by her sister, Shirley Amos Schulze (Al), of Rockville; and by her children, William D. Berryhill (Jean), of Birmingham, Ala., Charles A. Berryhill (Margaret), Elizabeth B. Brockman (Mike), Joyce B. Fortune (Cochise) and Thomas A. Berryhill (Claire), all of Richmond and Rockville; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Berryhill was a graduate of the Johnston-Willis School of Nursing, class of 1947, one of "the sisters", and was a dedicated registered nurse at Johnston-Willis Hospital for 32 years. She was a member of Springfield Christian Church in Rockville, Va.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the compassionate care and attention their mother received from the staff of Our Lady of Hope Nursing Center, especially Kimberly, Kristi, Samira, Edward and Haig, and to her physician, Dr. James R. Dageforde for his many years of care.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Friday, October 7, at the Parham Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1771 North Parham Road. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 8, at 11 a.m. at Springfield Christian Church, Rockville, Va. with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
