Jerry Wayne Smith

Jerry Wayne Smith, 76, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away peacefully on, Thursday October 24th, 2024. He was Preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ida Smith; brothers, Woodrow, Sam, Marvin, Wilburn, Johnny, and Barry Smith; Sisters, Mildred Loveless, Stella Smith, and Dorothy Goodson. He is survived by his loving wife, of 36 years, Dena Smith; daughter, Sherry Skiles; son Brian Skiles; brother, Danny Smith; sisters, Novella Horne, Rosetta Palmer, Kathy Howard, Patsy Booth, and Rosemary Bess, along with many other loving nieces and nephews. Jerry was a professional painter. He was also an avid football fan of the Tn Vols, a member of the Cleveland, Tn Citizens Police Academy Alumni. He loved fishing, golfing, and coaching men and womens softball teams. A memorial service for Jerry will be held Friday, November 8, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:50 AM at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 North Parham Road, Richmond, Virginia 23229. The family would like to thank the nursing staff with Bons Secours Hospice, and also a special thanks to Chaplin Tripp Hudgins with Bons Secours Hospice, who will officiate the memorial service. In lieu of flowers it was Jerry's wish that you make a donation to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
