Thacker, James "Jim" Franklin, 72, of Moseley, Va., went home to the Lord on June 26, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Paulanne Hull Thacker; daughters and sons-in-law, Alyson and Ashby Stinson, Carol and Chris Shumaker, Lori and Steve Caudill; sister, Jean Hall and her husband, Pete; grandchildren, Ashton and Turner Stinson, Wesley, Bryan and David Caudill, Collin, Cameron, Cory, Anna and Troy Shumaker; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Kathy Parker, Mike Hull, Frank and Edna Hull; many nieces and nephews; and the family dog, Peaches. Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Leslie, and sister, Lois.
Jim's passing is a celebration of an eternal life begun and earthly life filled with blessing. He was a graduate of both University of Richmond and George Washington University. He attained the rank of Major while serving in the Special Forces as a Green Beret in the U.S. Army. His business life was marked with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Jim's retirement was rich with passions of late model racing, motorcycle rides, long walks with Peaches and gatherings with friends and family. Jim will be remembered for his tenacity, generosity and love of life.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 28, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parham Chapel - Woody Funeral Home, 1771 North Parham Road, and where services will be held Tuesday, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
