J. Gerald Sanders

J. Gerald Sanders, 78, of Richmond passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016. He retired from the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Weights and Measures, after 33 years of service. He was a 50 year mason and past master of Babcock Lodge # 322 A. F. & A. M., Highland Springs and Temple Lodge # 9 A. F. & A. M., Richmond. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Temple and Laurel Hill United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Romulous M., Sr. and Louise H. Sanders. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Mark Shackelford; grandchildren, Taylor and Hunter Shackelford; brother, Romulous M. Sanders, Jr.; and nieces, Julia Currin (Stephen) and Catherine Sanders. The family will receive friends Friday, Sept. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231 where services will be held Saturday, Oct. 1, at 11 a.m. Interment will be Saturday, Oct. 1, at 3 p.m. in White Stone United Methodist Church Cemetery, 118 Methodist Church Road., White Stone, VA 22578.
