Grover was a retired Lieutenant with the Henrico County Division of Fire spending 35 years doing what he loved. Grover was an avid collector, loved fishing and riding his Harley Davidson all over the country and was a member of the Richmond Hog Chapter.
He was a devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather which just made him light up when he talked about any of them and was so proud of the young lady and men that they had become.
He was preceded in death by his father, Grover G. Barnett, Sr.; his mother, Anise N. Williams; father-in-law, Walter E. Shaw; and his brother-in-law Robert Steinbrecher. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 50 years, Sharon S. Barnett; two sons, James (Michelle) and Kenneth (Vicki); four grandkids, Jacob, Justin, Taylor and Tyler; two step grandsons, Bryan Hallman and Connor Raulerson; his devoted sister, Gwen Steinbrecher; four nieces; three great nieces; two great nephews; one sister-in-law; one aunt, Erma Scott; and a lot of cousins.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 8, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA. 23231. A service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Corinth United Methodist Church, 23 W. Williamsburg Rd., Sandston, VA. 23150.
