He was a retired foreman with Henkels & McCoy and received several awards of excellence while employed there. He enjoyed picking up junk and recycling, feeding and helping others that were doing without, going to McDonalds with his wife and visiting friends, watching westerns and collecting coins and trucker hats. He always kept busy tinkering and fixing things which brought him great joy.
He loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, George William Johnson; mother, Janie Louise Johnson; brother, Charles Linwood Johnson and Rosa Lee GepHart. He is survived by his wife, Leila Ann Johnson “Sissy”; children, Hope Marie Lindsey (Tommy Lindsey); George Linwood Johnson, Jr. (Mandy Johnson) and bonus daughter, Kaelie Perkins; grandchildren, Micah, Sam, Tommy, Jonah, Myles, Jia, Katherine, Addie and Laylah; sibling, Janie Virginia Lloyd.
The family will receive friends Thursday, November 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231.
A funeral service will be held Friday, November 8, at 9:30 a.m. at New Life Richmond Church of God, 6741 Poplar Springs Road, Henrico, VA 23231.
Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
