Fred W. Small

Fred W. Small, 96, of Mechanicsville, passed on Saturday, March 4, 2023. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Louise Small; siblings, Robert, Earl, Jim, Ray, Lonnie and Dorothy and is survived by his daughters, Lisa McCrea (Bret), Dena Fowlkes (Dennis); grandchildren, Katie McCrea, Eric and Travis Fowlkes; many special nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends, including special neighbors, Jim and Suzy Robinson. Fred was a proud member of the Army Air Corps and the Air Force Reserves, having flown Black Widow P61 and was a member of the American Legion Post 233 and the Curles Neck Hunt Club. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 8 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave, Richmond, Va 23231. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, March 9 at Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation in his name to the Wounded Warriors.
